” I am passionate about helping people who are trying to conceive. “
Who is the Doc?
Short answer:
the Doc is the real deal (see the longish answer for details)
Longish answer (His CV/resume is over 10 pages long and I only have a couple paragraphs)
Todd Deutch M.D. is a world-renowned Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) specialist. He is double board certified in REI and Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Doc has lectured and presented at scientific conferences all over the country and abroad. He has led courses to teach other fertility specialists his tricks of the trade. Dr. Deutch trained with Dr. Howard Jones who was responsible for the first in vitro fertilization (IVF) birth in the United States. Dr. Jones is considered the father of modern fertility treatment.

Dr. Deutch was recognized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as an outstanding clinician/scientist and received the extremely competitive National Institute of Health Loan Repayment grant. After receiving the grant Dr. Deutch served as an ambassador for the program. In addition, Dr. Deutch has sat on numerous committees and boards and served on the medical advisory board as well being a grant reviewer for the Chicago Coalition for Family Building. He is also a member of the Medical Advisory Council of the Jones Institute Foundation.
Awards the Doc has earned
Dr. Deutch has earned too many awards and accolades to list. Two that he is most proud of is being chosen by patients to receive the Patient’s Choice Award from U.S News and World Report and vitals.com (a doctor rating website) and being chosen by his fellow doctors as a Castle and Connolly Top Doctor for the past five years in a row.
In addition to being a physician, Dr. Deutch is also an inventor. He holds multiple patents on medical devices. Many of the devices and systems he developed are currently being used in operating rooms and by the bedside around the world to help women with infertility.
Dr. Deutch and his wife are very involved in philanthropy. They sit on the board of many philanthropic organizations. They support numerous organizations including organizations focused on women’s reproductive rights. Furthermore, Dr. Deutch has lobbied both at the local and national levels to support women’s rights to healthcare. He has been instrumental in helping change existing laws to be more inclusive and protect everyone’s right to become a parent and make reproductive choices.
Above all he is a devoted father of three children and a loving husband. Dr. Deutch has twins conceived through IVF and one child conceived with Clomid. Dr. Deutch nor his wife enjoyed having to go through fertility treatment. However, he appreciates the unique insight he has into the challenges that people with infertility face.

Why did the Doc start this community (in his own words):
I love practicing fertility medicine. I hope that one day I will be blessed with the opportunity to serve patients in that capacity again. Unfortunately I am currently medically unable to practice.
While doing an IVF egg retrieval I herniated a disc in my cervical spine. To make matters worse the herniated disc went undiagnosed for almost six months.

I eventually underwent a surgery to remove the damaged disc and fuse the vertebrae. However, due to the delay in treatment it is very likely that the nerve damage is permanent and I will never be able to practice fertility medicine again.
During the early stages of my recovery from surgery I sat in my bed and dreamed about what I would do if I could not practice fertility medicine. I wanted to do something that I was passionate about and I wanted to pay it forward.
Three Goals
I came up with three ideas:
- Teach math and science to middle/high school children with special needs
- Start an online community to help educate and provide resources for people who want to start or grow their family
- I can’t remember this one, I was just out of surgery
As for goal number one, I am currently in the process of interviewing and looking for teaching positions. I am passionate about giving every child a chance to succeed. As you may have guessed, I was a child with special needs/cognitive differences and am now an adult with the same issues. It took me a long time to understand that I was smart and could be successful. I am hopeful that by being a teacher, I can help build confidence in children that are facing some of the same challenges that I did.
I am passionate about helping people who are trying to conceive. In order to accomplish goal number two, I started looking on the internet to see what resources were available for people trying to get pregnant. I found that good resources were few and far between. It was hard to find trusted sources. I could not find websites that free from bias, offered all the products a person or couple trying to conceive may need.
All the websites I came across were either selling products that they manufactured themselves, making credibility an issue, or were pushing readers to sign up for some app or other service. It is true that we do sell products on this website, but as I already told you I was a successful physician for over 20 years. Making 50 cents on a tube of lube is not why I am doing this. Not only that, but shipping out pregnancy tests, prenatal vitamins, lube etc. is a lot of work (especially for a guy with a bad back).
After doing the above research I decided to start an online community. The community offers honest educated answers, provides quality information, allows community participation and makes available all the products, in one place, that may be needed to help get pregnant. I encourage participation in this endeavor. Please feel free to ask questions, make comments, or give suggestions by using the ask the Doc link.
Finally, as far as goal number three as soon as it pops into my head I’ll let you know. Until then, I just pray that whatever it turns out to be it is a lot less work than number one and number two.
