The SwimCount test evaluates both the concentration of sperm and the motility of the sperm. This test is FDA approved. It is important to know the concentration of motile sperm because this is the sperm that can successfully fertilize the egg.
In general the higher the amount of moving sperm in a sample the better the chance of pregnancy. While this test gives an idea of both concentration and motility it does not give specific numbers for either parameter.
